
Around 1.76 crore tonnes of paddy have been procured by Punjab government agencies and private millers across the state. This includes 42,299 tonnes procured only on Saturday. A government spokesperson stated that of the total procurement of 1.76 crore tonnes of paddy at all procurement centres of the state, the government agencies procured 1.73 crore tonnes, which comes to 98.5%. The remaining 2.65 lakh tonnes of paddy have been procured by private millers. Among the government agencies, Pungrain procured 33.3% of paddy, Markfed 21.8%, Punsup 21.5%, PSWC 9.9% and PAFC 9.9%. The central government agency Food Corporation of India (FCI) has procured 2.1%.
