BJP leader, aides booked for ‘molesting’ councillor| SNE

The police, on the complaint of BJP councillor Neetu Duggal, have booked district BJP vice-president Gurdeep Singh Deepa and his two accomplices Nitin Chadha and Vivek Chadha along with six other unidentified persons for allegedly molesting her and attacking her husband Ashok Duggal, former district BJYM president, near Jathere Duggalan Hadiabad on Wednesday night.Ashok was admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

Earlier several supporters of the victims and BJP leaders sat on a dharna, which was lifted only when the police assured to register a case. BJP candidate Som Parkash too arrived at the dharna site.Former Nagar Council president and Ashok’s father Balbhadhar Sein Duggal alleged that his son and daughter-in-law were attacked with lathis and sharp weapons.

The assailants even attempted to molest her and snatched away her stole before fleeing, alleged Neetu.She said she and her husband had lodged a complaint against Deepa and his friends for writing derogatory remarks against her father-in-law on the social media and this might be the reason behind the attack.However, Deepa denied the charges and said he was home at the time of the incident.

Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police Alka Meena said today raids were conducted at various places to start a detailed investigation.
