Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) president Paramjit Singh Sarna said the Delhi High Court (HC) in its order said Guru Harkrishan Medical Trust constituted in 2007 is a public charitable trust. The order was given after hearing a petition submitted by Sarna challenging Civil Judge’s order that had directed to dissolve the trust. Senior SAD leader Kuldip Singh Bogal had filed a suit before the Civil Judge to declare the trust an illegal entity and get it dissolved. The judge’s order for dissolving the trust was challenged in the HC by Sarna. The HC in its order said, “Guru Harkrishan Medical Trust, a public charitable trust, was created in 2007. Therefore, its governance would be subject to the Charitable and Religious (CR) Act, 1920. Additionally, if there is any doubt of misappropriation of its funds, the procedure prescribed under Section 92 of the Code of Civil Procedure would have to be invoked along with the provisions of the CR Act.”Sarna said running a multi-specialty hospital needed medical expertise which the DSGMC did not have. When he was president of the DSGMC, an agreement was signed with Manipal Hospital and later BL Kapoor to run 400-bed hospital with a condition to treat Sikhs of EWS on cheap rates. The SAD (Badal) leveled allegations, “I have disposed of the hospitals giving the wrong message to the community just to win the DSGMC elections. Now they have won the elections. For the past five years, they have no roadmap for the hospital.” — TNS
