The holier-than-thou approach adopted by the ruling right wing party in dealing with terrorism and systematic political egoistic nationalism will hurt the nation in times to come. Let us not forget the scientific principal –every action has its equal and opposite reaction.
Political jingoism in public gatherings, TV news channels and newspapers will only promote xenophobia rather than solve the political stalemate between India and Pakistan. The chest thumping after surgical strikes and behaving as all the problems related to terrorism have been addressed proved to be a popper after Baramulla strike and firing from across the line of control in the week that followed the strikes.
The politicians are busy in increasing the size and measuring the chest of the Prime Minister and proving the authenticity of the surgical strikes. But is anybody contemplating on the purpose of surgical strikes and what India achieved by conducting these strikes? The real world is where the monsters are and if you do not believe in monsters, turn your face towards a politicians and you will understand how beautifully demons can become priests.
Were these surgical strikes only symbolical to address political compulsions just before the forthcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat or it was part of greater political calculation is a mystery? The evacuation from the border villages and extension of curfew in the valley only indicates towards spiralling tension and escalating difficulties of the people residing in these areas. Scars of terrorism have the strange power to remind us that our past is real and we need to take appropriate steps to make our future better and secure.
I have been making a list of the things the ruling party don’t tell us. They do not tell us how they plan to address the problem of poverty. They do not tell us how they plan to provide jobs to the youth. They do not tell us how they plan to improve the economy of our country. They do not tell us how they plan to provide better civic amenities to the people and improve the financial condition of the common man. If they don’t tell you anything which worth knowing, then why do they thump their chest and come before the glaring cameras to tell us about the how surgical strikes were conducted. Did the politicians conduct the surgical strikes- no it was the brave hearts of the army who served the nation. If the politicians do not want to give anything to the nation they are most welcome but at least give respect and dignity to the army and acknowledge their dedication to the nation.
You don’t have to disrespect and insult others simply to hold your own ground. If you do, that shows how shaky your own position is. Dear politicians you have proved in the past that you can take away anything and everything of the man on the street but please do not d try to take away what is due to the security agencies and the army, do not steal their limelight and thump your chest for nothing. At the end of the day, it is what it is. Yesterday ended last night, so let us move on with life and try to secure the future without terrorism for the coming generations and not waste time in proving who is holier-than-thou.
