Most car makers in India seem to think that buyers seeking the automatic version do not want a fully loaded cars. Luckily, this feeling seems to be changing slowly but steadily. Honda is the latest automaker to address this, and the new Amaze compact sedan is now available with the CVT automatic gearbox in the top-end VX trim. The Honda Amaze Petrol CVT VX variant is priced at Rs. 8.57 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi while the diesel CVT VX variant is priced at Rs. 9.57 lakhs.
Honda’s move to offer the automatic versions of the Amaze in the top-end VX trim has to do with customer demand. Here’s what Mr. Rajesh Goel, Sr. Vice President and Director, Sales & Marketing, Honda Cars India Ltd. had to say about this,
The 2nd Generation Honda Amaze set a new benchmark in its segment with over 20% of our customers opting for advanced CVT variants in both petrol and diesel. We are delighted to introduce the new VX CVT variant of Honda Amaze to complete the top spec VX range and offer increased choice to our customers.
The 2nd generation Amaze compact sedan, introduced during last year’s Indian Auto Expo, is Honda’s best selling car. The 2nd gen car got a slew of changes including a brand new design, more spacious interiors, a much more rounded feature set than the car it replaced, automatic options on both the petrol and diesel models, and also a lighter kerb weight that made for better fuel efficiency and peppier performance.
Meanwhile, the VX trim of the Honda Amaze Petrol and Diesel CVT models offer the following additional features,
The car’s 1.2 liter petrol engine makes 87 Bhp-110 Nm while the 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine outputs 80 Bhp- 160 Nm. The Amaze is also available with the same engines and 5 speed manual gearboxes. However, the manual gearbox equipped Amaze Diesel is more powerful, with outputs rated at 98.6 Bhp-200 Nm.
The Amaze rivals the likes of the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo, Tata Tigor and the Ford Figo Aspire compact sedan. Prices of the Amaze start from Rs. 5.91 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. Basic safety features such as ABS and twin airbags are standard across all Amaze variants.
