When the Bhartiya Janata Party came to power in 2014 the people were euphoric about nationalism when the Prime Minster Narendra Modi and his party workers made Bharat Mata Ki Jai as a symbol of national identity and progressive nationalism. But four years down the line ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ has become a satirical idiom to mock Bhartiya Janata Party , its lawmakers and down slide of all the national institutions.
Can any mother become happy if its daughters are raped? Can any mother feel happy if its children are denied justice? Can any mother feel happy if its children are killed in police custody to save the accused?
The BJP and RSS which keeps on giving sermons from the holy books have forgotten what happened to Ravan and the Kurvas. They have to decide whether they are on the side or the accused or the victims?
Whether they believe in the rule of law or they believe in might is right, the jungle rule. Right from Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir to Unnao in Uttar Pradesh people are witnessing how the rape accused are being shielded by the right wing party and how the nation is being polarised in the name of religion to save the accused. Is this what Bharat Mata Stands for?
Bharat Mata stands for the principle of Live and Let live its stands for equality and justice for all human beings. It stands for protection of the rights of the weak and meek. It stands for peaceful co-existence of all who live in India. Bharat Mata is the mother of all it cannot belong to one particular community or party.
It is rather shameful that political parties spread misconception about nationalism in the name of religion, caste or community. It is time when all the citizens of India should unite and take a pledge that they will vote carefully and select the right candidates in the next elections to save democracy and Bharat Mata from misrule.
