NRIs representing Baba Budha Ji Chetna Lehar USA Marco Foundation have announced to adopt Bagh village in Madhya Pradesh inhabited largely by Sikligar Sikhs.
Chief of the foundation Amolak Singh and coordinator Sohan Singh Khalsa shared the information with the media here and said the village had about 50 families, all of whom were completely illiterate. “None of the 70 odd children in the village is attending school. The women in the village have to walk 1.5 km to fetch water for their household chores,” they said.
The members said they had formed a new wing — Sikh Sikligar Vanjara Helping Hands and adopted the village.
“We have opened 16 stitching centres in Bagh village and surrounding four-five villages. We have got bore wells dug up in five villages. We have also opened dhabas, tea stalls and cycle repair sheds for people to earn a better livelihood. We have also arranged to provide tuition fee for 300 children of the villages there,” they added.
The members said many villagers do not have a concrete roof in their houses and that they had appealed to the Centre and state to make provisions for them under the PM Awaas Yojna.
There is no use finding fault with the EVMs now when the party leadership committed a historic blunder with regard to the overall strategy in the elections. First, it should look within to find out reasons that stopped AAP’s march to power,” Chandigarh-based The Tribune quoted Mann as saying.
