CHANDIGARH: Guru Gobind Singh College for Women in Sector 26, one of the well-known colleges in the city, was established in 1973. The college was ranked as one of the pre-eminent institutions of the region. The college has been re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The college has released the admission forms for various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the the academic year 2019-2020. The forms are also available on the official website of the college.
The college takes pride in having one of the best maintained campus across Chandigarh. It also won the second prize at Annual Rose Festival 2019, a feat which it has been consistently accomplishing since 2008.
From this year, an elective subject is being added in BA course after the UGC approval. A student will be required to selected any three elective courses. Religious Sikh Studies will be added in BA after the approval of UGC (University Grants Comission).
The college offers BA/BA (Hons), BCom, BCA, BSc (Non-Medical/Computer Science), MA English, MA Sociology, MA Economics, MCom and MSc (IT).

The college promotes the concept of learning beyond the classroom as well. For this purpose, the college runs several clubs, cells and societies which cater to the co-curricular and extra-curricular aspects of the students’ development- dance societydramatic society, environment society, Gender Champions Club, Abhivyakti literary society, Legal literacy cell, fine arts club, 1T club, music club, Ehsaas Red Ribbon and many more.
The college has two units of NSS which helps student in enriching their personality and deepening their understanding of the social environment, The college NCC recruits about 120 cadets, who are given basic training in small arms and parades.
Facilities of the college, on an area of 11 acre, is.completely Wi-Fi enabled. It has all the latest facilities, laboratories, research labs, library. hostel, seminar room (seating capacity more than 100 students). smart classes, auditorium, fitness centre, student centre multi-functional grounds, and so on. The college has a 700-seater stately multi-purpose hall exclusively for various activities and programme for and by students. It has green rooms equipped with all modern facilities and amenities.
Double storey building with open access to more than 24.000 books and 490 CDs different subjects, the library collection here is enriched with reference books coffee table books, light reading books like fiction, self-help. biographies of eminent personalities, and so on. A total of 38 magazines and journals as well as 19 newspapers have been subscribed to by the library. A new initiative by the college library is a Wall Magazine named ‘Khoj It is a place where students can submit their original work, be it painting, poetry, essays, articles, etc. These original works are scanned and displayed on the LED TV installed in the library.

Mata Kheevi Hostel offers accommodation to 350 residents with a gurdwara within the premises. The hostel building comprises a dining hall with modern kitchen, a common room with LCD and indoor games,reading room with internet facility. Seats allotted to the students on the basis of merit and availability.
Various workshops, seminars and counselling sessions are organized to enlighten students regarding various placement opportunities. The computer department has a huge contribution in the modern studies of the students, faculty members and academic staff. There are four laboratories that come under the computer department, and these contain a total of 100 workstations, all networked.
