Punjab Local Government Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Tuesday held wide-ranging discussions on cooperation in smart city, sporting exchanges, agricultural collaboration, and education with the South Australian Minister.
The South Australian Minister for Communities and Social Inclusion, Social Housing, Status of Women, Ageing, Multicultural Affairs, Youth and Volunteers Zoe Bettison had called on Sidhu who discussed the smart city project with the Australian dignitary.
Sidhu perfectly articulated his plan of having infrastructural, cultural, sports besides other socio-economic sphere level exchanges between Amritsar and any city in South Australia.
He said that he was strongly optimistic about getting whole-hearted co-operation from Australia with regard to this.
Dwelling upon other issues, Sidhu called for agricultural partnership between the two sides with special emphasis on scientific research and agro-based industry.
Listing education and sports as top priority areas, Sidhu batted for regular exchange of co-operation between two sides on these core sectors, thus benefitting from each other’s expertise.
On the occasion, the Australian dignitary specially invited Sidhu along with Olympian and MLA Pargat Singh for the upcoming Australian Sikh Games to which Sidhu said that he would bring the matter to the notice of the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
Sidhu maintained that he would be very elated in case the Chief Minister agrees to lead the State in Australia, thus leading to further cementation of bonds between Punjab and Australia.
The Australian dignitary also lauded the par excellence contribution made by Sidhu while representing India in Cricket and MLA Pargat Singh in Hockey.
