The court today dismissed Manjit Singh GK’s petition seeking cancellation of an FIR lodged against him in a financial irregularities case.

Shunty has accused the former DSGMC functionaries of having embezzled Rs 51 lakh from the gurdwara funds and submitted a fake bill for 82,000 books on Sikh heritage and uniform for guards.

Sarna alleged that SAD Badal had “looted” Guru’s treasure ruthlessly and nearly made it insolvent. Currently, the financial condition of the DSGMC is such that employees are not getting salaries in time. For the first time in the history of the DSGMC, financial irregularities had come to light.

Earlier on December 13 last year, Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) of the Patiala House court had ordered the police to register the FIR against GK and others. But they challenged the order in session court next day when the court had ordered for an interim stay in registering the FIR on the revision petition filed by the defense counsel seeking urgent hearing of the matter as the MM had ordered the police to register the FIR and submit the compliance report before the court.

Last month, The court also issued a notice to the SHO, North Avenue. “As the SHO has on some pretext or the other chosen not to register an FIR, he shall show cause why an FIR under Section 166-A of the IPC be not ordered to be registered against him, as being a public servant he has knowingly disobeyed the direction of law by not registering an FIR, despite disclosure of cognizable offences, wasting time which should have been directed towards collecting important documents,” the magistrate said.
