Women’s Asia Cup star wants to play for Punjab | SNE

It was a proud moment for Gurjit Kaur, the star of the winning squad at the Women’s Asia Cup, who today arrived in the city for a momentary stop.Arriving from New Delhi, the star was accorded a rousing reception by sports lovers, including Surinder Bhapa, Kulbir Singh and District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh.

Bhapa welcomed the player with garlands and Gurjit Kaur was later taken to the Lyalpur Khalsa College for the reception.

Speaking to The Tribune, Gurjit Kaur who works for the Railways, said if given a chance, she would love to represent Punjab in international hockey. Speaking of her crucial match against China, Gurjit said qualifying for the World Cup was indeed a proud moment for the team. — TNS
